Similar events will be happening simultaneously around the UK with thousands of people praying at the same time.

It is not front led, there is no one with a megaphone telling everyone what to do, people simply gather and pray. There are some suggested ideas but nothing is obligatory. It takes inspiration from 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from the wicked ways, the will I hear them from heaven, and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

THE VISION
All over the world, nations are shaking. Politically, economically, socially, environmentally.It’s a time of great challenge and change.

In the face of such need, we can often feel powerless, wondering what difference we can make.

At times such as these, God calls his people to pray.

This is such a time. This is such a call.

This is a call to cities. It’s a call to cities to pray for nations.

Not just inside, within four walls, behind closed doors.
But outside, publicly, in the heart of every city.

A visible statement of faith.

7:14 is a vision to see ALL of God’s people released and empowered to rise up and make a difference.
To see the WHOLE Church, young and old, come together to pray for our nations and leaders.

No stage, no mics, no brands, no speaker. Just the people of God in one place at one time, with the healing of lands on our hearts.

The world is on the streets right now, rising up for change.
It’s time the Church was too, proclaiming Jesus Christ is Lord!

THE HOUR
7:14pm – 8:14pm
OUTSIDE York Minster

We will come from all over, all streams and all ages, carrying candles and lights of all kinds. There’ll be singing and silence, worship and witness, corporate acts and complete freedom.

A beautiful image of what the church is called to be. A visible sign of what the church is called to do.

Yet within that hour, EVERY CITY will be united at set points in simultaneous acts of corporate worship:
The Lord’s Prayer / Kneeling / Singing / Breaking Bread

Indeed our breaking bread together will be our greatest witness to hope.
Christ’s Broken Body for a broken world.

York, RISE UP, let your light be seen!

I am currently on a train to York. When I arrive, which hasn’t happened yet, I will be over three hours late. My train broke, I was put on a coach with no air conditioning, was travel sick and missed a connection.

I am not in control.

Whilst on my nightmare journey I had a text from a mate who was gutted because his mate Jim, who came to Student Alpha on week 1, cant come on week 2 because of a party and heavy work load. We had prayed together that Jim would be there as he had some great God chats on the first week. My friend had to surrender that frustration to God.

I am not in control and neither is my mate.

The truth is none of us are in control. We are pretty good at shaping our environments so that we feel like we are, but we are not. The sun rises and sets without our permission. People die without warning. Great blessings land in our lap without any prior notice. And while this can irritate us, like me on the coach, there is immense solace in the truth that our God is in control. He is never surprised. Never without an alternative route. Never out of control.

God says to Job, “Tell me if you know all this. What is the way to the abode of light? And where does the darkness reside? Can you take them to their places? Do you know the paths of their dwellings? Surely you know for you were already born! You have lived so many years!” (Job 38:18-21)

Through the moving and sometimes comedic schooling that God gives Job, I am urged to remember that God is in control. He knows everything that is winding me up. He knows when I will get home and when Jim will return to Student Alpha.

What is it in your life that gets you wound up? What do you need to let go of? Where can you say “God. You are in control. I’m going to sit back and trust you.”

From 26-28th Nov a G2 student getaway will be occurring!

A few slamming reasons to be there:

- Alex Wilmott our favourite welshman (no offense
meant to other welshpeoples) is coming to speak.
- We’re going to the Jonas Centre – picturesque, Wensleydale (as in the cheese), and log cabins.- There will be a bonfire.
- We’re already filling up and the people who are signed up are pretty awesome!
- The idea is bring your friends.
