I’m just back from an amazing two days at The Global Leadership Summit in Chicago, run by the Willow Creek Association. The Summit telecasts live from the campus of Willow Creek Community Church, reaching more than 185 host sites across the United States. In the months following, the Summit moves into more than 200 cities in 70+ countries across the globe via videocast – including the UK. We will be organising a trip to either the Stockton-on-Tees (7-8October), Newcastle (14-15 October) or Scunthorpe (4-5 November) venues so keep the dates in mind and let me know your preference (andy.falconer@g2york.org).

The Summit is a mixture of leaders from the Christian world and also people from the business world (Seth Godin, MayorBooker of Newark).  It’s quite an experience to sit in a packed church auditorium which seats around 6,000 people – talk about collective worship!  I was staying with a host family and so was welcomed into their family and home which just added to the whole experience.

My head is still spinning from all that I was challenged with and I’ve jotted down some of the quotes I noted, and also some clips which will give you a sample of what’s to come in October/November. Some of my favourite quotes were:

I would thoroughly recommend reading the bottom four books on my bookshelf, all written by speakers at the conference. They will challenge and inspire you to be better leaders. Remember, we are all leaders whether at home with our families, at work, in the church, at school or at university.
